Music Literature

This course will allow students to view a history of music through lyrics. Students will learn poetic devices and apply these devices to modern lyrics. Different types of music will be analyzed: Rock, Rap, R&B, Country, Folk, etc. Students will propose create their own final project based on the lyrics and teachings in the trimester.

- Identify poetic devices in modern music
- Compare modern lyrics to poetry
- Describe the effect society has on music and music on society
- Evaluate music and poetry

Grading: The student will be expected to attend class and complete assignments.
