Modern Literature

This course will teach students the basics of modern literature. Students will read modern young adult literature and analyze the readings. Students will flesh out characters, analyze literary devices, propose, and create their own final project based on the readings in the trimester.

- The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
- Literary Anthologies

Upon course completion, the student will be able to:
- Define basic literary devices
- Compare and contrast works of literature
- Evaluate literature and literary characters
- Identify societal constructs reflected in modern literature

Grading: The student will be expected to attend class and complete assignments.
