History & Science of Weaponry

Why did humans first invent weapons? This course will allow student to discover the scientific skills that made it possible for humans to defend themselves and assert themselves as civilizations. We will be looking at the history of defensive tactics, the reasons for use, how cultures utilized these ideas, and the outcomes of weapon use. Students will have a hands on opportunity to combine an important aspect of both science and history through making models, gaining insight into cultural ideas, and consequences of weapon use.

Course Objectives
Students will be able to explain how certain cultures formulated and created defense mechanisms, as well as analyze the theories behind weapon creation and use.
This course will be graded on the following scale and is based on attendance, class participation, and class work:
A 100-80%
B 79-70%
C 69-60%
D 59-50%
N 49-%
