Geometry

Instructor: Cam Stottler

Subject Area: Mathematics

Geometry is a course that should be taken only after Algebra has successfully been completed. Geometry will focus on problem-solving through proofs and arguments, solving equations involving shapes, area, perimeter, and word problems.

State Standards: This course will exceed the following Minnesota State Standards:

• Geometry and Measurement - Calculate measurements of plane and solid geometric figures; know that physical measurements depend on the choice of a unit and that they are approximations.

Construct logical arguments, based on axioms, definitions and theorems, to prove theorems and other results in geometry.
Know and apply properties of geometric figures to solve real-world and mathematical problems and to logically justify results in geometry.

Solve real-world and mathematical geometric problems using algebraic methods.

Grading: Students will be expected to attend class daily, provide effort towards assignment completion, ask questions for clarification, and complete assessments.
